The main goal of semen analysis is to determine the fertilizing ability of the semen. Additionally we establish the freezing ability of the semen in advance. In the laboratory we examine many factors: the motility rate of the semen batch, the concentration of sperm per cc, the total amount in cc and the morphology and percentage of abnormal sperms we establish under the microscope after fixation and colouring of the sample.

Meanwhile we apply other means of objective semen analysis. We use the Proiser-ISAS computer assisted semen analyser. This software program is capable of establishing the exact patterns of movement of individual sperms. Classification according to WHO standards can be performed with this program. The concentration of the semen can be established very quick and accurate. A big advantage is the possibility of examination of detailed morphology of the individual sperm cell, particularly concerning the head, head cap and mid part. Every sperm analysis is digitally recorded which facilitates further analysis, documentation and distribution.
